There, 200 next-generation Detroiters gathered for food and kickball. The kickoff party, sponsored by Fuze, had a large variety of the fruit drink and pizza and salad from Jerusalem Pizza. Do It For Detroit events continued Aug. 4 for Detroiters living in Chicago. The Sammi Cutler and Ryan Rosenberg, both of West Bloomfield CommunityNEXT kicks off its campaign with an outdoor party. next Detroit event is Dodgeball in the D, a dodge ball tourney on Belle Isle on Aug. 20. All proceeds from the campaign go to the Live Detroit Fund. The goal is to create a community of 25 rent-subsidized young adults who will host one substantial com- munity event a month that will strengthen the Jewish and larger Detroit communities. "It is so exciting to see young adults from Detroit all across the country getting involved and coming together to show pride in making a difference for our next generation," said Rachel Winer, marketing strategist for CommunityNEXT. M ore than 500 seniors from around the community gathered at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on July 30 for a special Senior Shabbat experience. The morning began with a tradi- tional Shabbat service led by the Temple Israel clergy. Following services, seniors enjoyed a delicious light lunch while shmoozing with family and friends. After lunch, all enjoyed a Yiddish concert by Cantor Michael Smolash — the perfect finish to a delightful afternoon.
