Obesity Report
Shows Rates Rising
The American Heart Association (AHA)
notes in the "F as in Fat: How Obesity
Threatens America's Future 2011" report
just released, adult obesity rates have
increased in 16 states.
Today, more than half of our nation's
states have obesity rates higher than 25

Tour Detroit's Sustainable
Urban Farms And Gardens
With more than 1,300 gardens and
farms throughout the city, Detroit is
in the vanguard of a urban gardening
renaissance. Now, see it for yourself.
The 14th annual Detroit Agricultural
Network Tour of Urban Gardens and
Farms will have simultaneous bike and
bus tours. All tours depart at 6 p.m.
on Wednesday, Aug. 3, from Catherine
Ferguson Academy located at 2750 Selden
in Detroit. Check-in time is one hour prior
to departure.

Leiby Kletzky Fund
To Help The Needy
New York (JTA) — The parents of
murdered 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky
have created a memorial fund in
their son's name to assist the needy.
Nachman
and Itta Kletzky
released a state-
ment July 21
urging people to
give to charity
and think of Leiby
A while praying and
lighting Shabbat
Leiby Kletzky
candles.
The statement came the day after
the Kletzkys emerged from sitting
shivah and also the day a grand jury
indicted Levi Aron, 35, for Leiby's
kidnapping and murder.
"We thank God for the nearly nine
beautiful years that He entrusted us
with Leiby's pure soul',' the Kletzkys
wrote. "If tragedy is to ever befall
any of you, God forbid, you should
be blessed with a community and
public as supportive of ours:'
The statement said the memorial
fund would "channel the lovingkind-
ness shown to us and our dear Leiby
toward many, many others in neer
As of late Monday evening, the
Leiby Kletzky Memorial Fund
(www.leibykletzkymemorialfund.
com) had raised $215,082 from
4,597 online donors.
Also late last week, one of Aron's
two attorneys resigned. In his res-
ignation, Gerard Marrone cited "the
horrific way this boy was killed."
