AND HERE'S WHY:

t 5 a.m., Sunday, July 17, a
woman lost control of her
SUV and crashed through
the window of the kosher Dunkin'
Donuts and Baskin Robbins store at
Greenfield and 10 Mile roads in Oak
Park. Glass shattered throughout the
store, breaking chairs, tables and the
Dunkin' Donuts sign as well as the
glass cooler case covering the Baskin
Robbins ice cream.
The store was closed on Sunday
and reopened Monday, but was most-
ly running its drive-through window.
By Tuesday, everything was up and
running with the window and wall
boarded up and cardboard covering

the ice cream case.
"The main thing is that no one was
hurt:' said employee Eva Stillman,
who arrived at the store at 6 a.m.
after the accident to start her shift.
She said she only focused on the cus-
tomers and their safety.
"This place is family oriented
and important for our customers:'
she said. "When I saw this I cried
because I didn't want it to affect any-
one'
The owners are working on plans
for repairing the store, with the
hopes that at least the glass on the ice
cream case will be fixed this week.
Despite the damage, people are still
enjoying donuts and coffee — and
especially the ice cream as they
attempt to cool off from the heat.
