IT WAS AN overly warm high 80s eve-
ning as 1,200 to 1,500 people jammed
every seat outdoors for the recent Friday
night Shabbat at Temple Israel.
During the summer months, Friday
night Shabbat with a theme is a regular
event at the West Bloomfield temple.
On this night was the 12-piece orches-
tra of Simone Vitale, including Simone
himself on the guitar and four songsters
vocalizing Hebrew background, whose
uncountable tally of weddings, bar mitz-
vahs and various events are community
standouts ... Also many musical gigs
around town at Joe Vicari's Andiamo res-
taurants and New Year's Eve shindigs, etc.
Simone and his orchestra appear yearly
outdoors in the summer and indoors dur-
ing the winter for the annual Temple Israel
Friday evening shabbat events ... This is
Simone and his group's sixth year.
Among the evening's highlights was
the beautiful singing of Simone's non-

Marty, are Temple Israel members with
Simone's grandchildren, 6-year-old
Max, who will go to Hillel Day School in
Farmington Hills after his Temple Israel
religious school stint in September, and
3-year-old Talia, a Temple Israel religious
school student.
The continuous Hebrew musical pro-
gram interspersed with short interesting
talks by Rabbis Harold Loss, Paul Yedwab,
Josh Bennett and Marla Hornsten brought
a delightful evening for the huge crowd of
worshippers.
