Art Extravaganza!

More than 1,100 artists will display their
work at the Ann Arbor Art Fairs.

ebra Adelson, selling Star of David necklaces at this
year's Ann Arbor Art Fairs, may well have a more
wistful view of multimedia shows than others offer-
ing their works.
Adelson met her husband, glass artist Pavel Novak, at an
American Craft Exhibition.
The two now take turns going to art fairs so one of them
can care for their almost 2-year-old son. That can mean some
16 shows per year for Adelson.
The Ann Arbor Art Fairs will keep her in the area
Wednesday-Saturday, July 20-23, when more than 1,100 art-
ists display a variety of juried selections in four separate divi-
sions: Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair,
South University Art Fair and State Street Area Art Fair.
Visitors can watch demonstrations, be entertained by per-
forming artists, escort children to special activities and find
diverse foods for their personal tastes and sampling.
"I sell a range of jewelry and evening bags:' says Adelson,
37, and based in New Jersey.
"I use distinctive materials — acrylics, sterling and gem-
stones — and make each piece lightweight and colorful. My
evening bags are formed from metals and sterling with a
broach that can be taken off and worn."
