New Board Takes Charge
At Temple Beth El
On Friday, June 10, the Temple Beth
El Brotherhood marked the beginning
of its 92nd year with the installation
of its officers and board at a Shabbat
dinner followed by services.
Incoming president, Larry Imerman,
a member for 17 years, brings commu-
nity experience to his new position.
Officers installed with Imerman
include Dana Gulick, first vice
president; Rob Gorman, second
vice president; Jerry Cole, treasurer;
Bruce Jacob, assistant treasurer; Marc
Zupmore, recording secretary; Jeff
Hollander, corresponding secretary.
Newly installed board members
are Mark Cooperman, Arnie Garvin,
Roy Goodman, Leo Hollander, Barry
Lepler, Buzz Turner and Ron Yolles.
For the second consecutive year,
Cindy Bolokofsky and Rochelle Nelson
will share the presidency of the
Temple Beth El Sisterhood. A 36-year
member of the congregation, Cindy
Bolokofsky has served on the Beth El
board and chaired the music commit-
tee. Rochelle Nelson's involvement in
sisterhood goes back nearly 12 years.

Jewish Senior Life
Installs Officers
Shunning a windowless boardroom, the
Jewish Senior Life Auxiliary instead took
a tasting tour of Detroit's Eastern Market
June 2 to install officers for 2011.
A busload of members toured
downtown and the market area, tasted
cheese, olives, pizza and ice cream, then
held an installation luncheon at the 234
Winder Street Inn, a refurbished house
built by a German Jew in the 1890s; it's
now a bed and breakfast.
The following were installed: presi-
dent, Elaine Beresh of West Bloomfield;
vice presidents of fundraising, Hannah
Moss of Huntington Woods and Joanne
Robinson and Larry Slutsky, both of West
Bloomfield; vice presidents of member-
ship, Lynn Silverman of Bloomfield Hills
and Linda Solomon of West Bloomfield;
vice presidents of programming, Karen
Kraft of Farmington Hills and Nori
Rubin of West Bloomfield; vice presi-
dents of gift shops, Beverly Bennett and
Rose Cooper, both of West Bloomfield.
Financial secretaries, Bea Breiner and
Carol Metzger, both of Bloomfield Hills;
recording secretary, Pearlena Bodzin of
Southfield; treasurer, David Levine of
West Bloomfield; parliamentarian, Geri
Margolis of West Bloomfield.
Margolis presented Bill Carroll of West
Bloomfield with the President's Award
for his volunteerism for the organization.
The 86-year-old auxiliary supports
older Jewish adults with programs,
activities and financial gifts.

Newly elected sisterhood vice presi-
dents are Dolly Lax, administration
and programming; Nancy Fortier
and Karen Lowen, community out-
reach; Jorin Rubin, fundraising; Lucy
Gersten, gift shop; and Betty Schare,
membership.
Other officers include Rochelle Nelson,
treasurer; Lois Freeman, assistant trea-
surer: Sue Goldsmith, recording secre-
tary; Harriet Cooperman, corresponding
secretary. Newly-elected board members
are Barbra Bloch, Sue Green, Janelle Mc
Cammon and Deloris Weinstein-Hall.

Sobibor Museum
Saved From Closure
WARSAW (JTA) — The museum at the
Nazi death camp at Sobibor will remain
open, after intervention by the Polish
government that followed the museum's
announcement it would close due to a
shortage of funding.
Poland's Culture Ministry announced
June 3 that the Sobibor museum will
be administered by the museum at the
nearby Majdanek death camp. About
20,000 people a year visit Sobibor. About
250,000 people, mostly Jews, were slain
there during the Holocaust.

It's not just about getting you back on your feet.
It's about getting you back to your life.
