SALLY E. BIRCH, 96,
died June 9, 2011, at her
residence in Bloomfield
Hills. She was born
March 30, 1915, in
Crystal Falls, Mich., and
was a resident of West
Bloomfield, Southfield
Birch
and Beverly Hills for
many years. Mrs. Birch was a homemaker
and, at one time, a dietician at Crittenton
Hospital.
Family came first for her. She loved
holiday dinners with her family and she
also enjoyed working around the house
and being a homemaker.
According to her son-in-law, Larry,
"She was one of the kindest, warmest
people you would ever want to meet in
your life".
Mrs. Birch was the loving mother of
Carol Tushman (Larry); dear grandmoth-
er of Debbie Tushman and Lee Tushman
(Susan); great-grandmother of Hailey
and Hunter Tushman and Michael and
Ryan Lax.
She was the wife of the late Roy.
Services were held at A.J. Desmond &
Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel),
32515 Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak.

MORTON "MORTIE" OPPENHEIM 90,
of Moreno Valley, Calif., formerly of West
Bloomfield, died after a short illness May
25, 2011.
During his many years in the Detroit
area, he was active with the Jewish War
Veterans and worked for Belvedere
Construction.
Mr. Oppenheim is survived by his
daughters, Regina (Irving) Richards,
Patti (Glenn) Podnar; son Gary (Sharon)
Oppenheim; grandchildren, Eli (Monica)
