Contributions may be made to a char- ity of one's choice. Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel. RABBI SHERMAN PHILLIP KIRSHNER, died Saturday morning, June 4, 2011, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born 77 years ago in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was trained as a cantor, earned rab- binic ordination along with a master's degree, a doctorate and numerous degrees, honoris causa. He worked as a cantor and, since 1972, as a congrega- tional rabbi. His greatest achievements were outside of the classroom and the pulpit, where he raised four sons, the late Gabriel, Elliott (Connie Hurst), Laurence (Beth Naftaly) and David- Seth (Dori Frumin) Kirshner. Barbara Wolin Kirshner, his wife of 53 years, was the light of his life, the stride in his step. His greatest source of pride were his eight grandchildren, Sarah- Beth, Jacob, Caleb, Elizabeth, Zachary, Benjamin, Eve and Elias Kirshner. He will be sorely missed by his younger sister, Reva Waldman. Interment at Machpelah Cemetery in Flint.
