emonade Day is coming to
Metro Detroit on June 12,
and the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit is encour-
aging kids of all ages in the Jewish
community to get involved.
Lemonade Day Detroit is a free,
communitywide program dedi-
cated to teaching children how to
start, own and operate their own
business through building and run-
ning a lemonade stand.
Through the program, the youth
will have the opportunity to "spend
a little, save a little and share a
little." Kids commit to donating a
portion of their profits to a local
charity of choice.
Lemonade Day is a part of
Prepared 4 Life, a Houston-based
nonprofit organization that has
provided fun, proactive and expe-
riential programs since 2007. This
year, the program will expand to 28
cities.
"By participating in Lemonade
Day, kids in the Metro Detroit
Jewish community can gain valu-
able entrepreneurial skills," said
Susan Feldman, senior endow-
ment development manager at
Federation. "And, at the same time,
they'll gain valuable lessons in the
importance of giving and of help-
ing those in need right here in the
community."
Children in grades pre-K-5 and
grades 6-12 can register for their
Lemonade Day backpacks, full of
easy tips and age-appropriate sug-
gestions, and pick them up at the
Federation building in Bloomfield
Township.
To sign up or learn about ways
to get involved in Lemonade Day
Detroit or register a backpack, visit
jewishdetroit.org/lemonadeday.
Kids can pick up their backpacks
at the Federation from 3-5 p.m.
Monday through Friday. For more
information, contact Lisa Sobel
Siegmann at (248) 205-2534 or
