Returning to the Detroit Zoo
through Labor Day is Dinosauria,
with more than 30 life-like anima-
tronic dinosaurs that roar, snarl,
move and have taken up residence
along a lush, winding, three-acre
DinoTrail re-creating prehistoric life.
Open daily 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (until
8 p.m. Wednesdays during July and
August). Tickets for Dinosauria are
$4 for visitors age 2 and older with
zoo admission: $12 for adults 15-61,
$10 for senior citizens 62 and older,
$8 for children 2-14, children under

Speaking of zoos, the Detroit
Institute of Arts presents It's a Zoo
in Here! Prints and Drawings of
Animals, a show with an abundance
of styles and techniques from more
than 100 artists across the ages,
through Sept. 25. About 30 works
in the exhibition are hung quite low
for pint-sized visitors. A great way
to introduce the kids to the DIA! 10

The Detroit Historical Society
hosts Steve Babson, co-author of
The Color of Law: Ernie Goodman,
Detroit, and the Struggle for Labor
and Civil Rights (Wayne State
University Press; 2010), 6 p.m.
Wednesday, June 8, at the Detroit
Historical Museum. Defense lawyer
Ernie Goodman, the son of Jewish
immigrants, was a corporate lawyer
before "converting" to socialism
and practicing labor law during the
Great Depression. He was at the cen-
ter of the many struggles for social
justice in the 20th century. Free for

Home and Garden Tour features
eight homes and gardens across a

Motor City Pride expands to two
days this year and moves to Detroit's
Hart Plaza, 3-11 p.m. Saturday and
noon-7 p.m. Sunday, June 4-5. The
Motor City Gay Pride Parade takes
place at 11 a.m. June 5, right before
the festival, along Griswold Street.
