Alan Hitsky Interim Editor T he resignation of Rabbi Jason Miller from the staff of Tamarack Camps has led the camps to sign a one-season agreement with the Southfield-based Council of Orthodox Rabbis of Greater Detroit (Vaad Harabonim). According to a Tamarack state- ment, "Under the guidance of the Vaad, Tamarack will purchase only Vaad-approved kosher products for its Ortonville, Mich., Jason Miller location. Although the Vaad will not be providing full kashrut supervision of Tamarack, the Vaad will conduct periodic inspec- tions of the Ortonville kitchens to offer guidance on matters involv- ing the use of only approved kosher products and in matters involving food preparation and the laws of kashrut. "Full Vaad supervision will con- tinue to be provided for some outside groups utilizing the camp's facilities." Frank Ellias, president of Tamarack Camps, said, "We pleased about our relationship with the Vaad Harabonim. We look forward to not only receiving their guidance in mat- ters involving kosher food prepara- tion but also in helping to educate our campers in the laws of kashrut."
