the relationships I have made there,'
she said. "I have developed a family and
made friendships ranging from the old-
est members to the 'Tot Shabbat' kids.
I remember sitting in the sanctuary at
age 4 singing along to Ein Keloheinu,
and have since progressed through `shul
school' and become a bat mitzvah. I am
honored to be an honoree for the 100th
anniversary celebration and to repre-
sent the future of the synagogue that
has provided me with a second home."
One of the unique features of B'nai
Moshe is that the religious school,
the L.I.EE. (Learning is a Family
Experience) program, meets on
Saturday mornings during services.
That works for Hannah.
"I love having class on Shabbat
morning because it allows me to have
the best of both worlds',' she said. "I can
sit in services with my family and then
go to class to learn with my friends."
As the son of Rabbi Pachter and
Naomi Weckstein, it would be natural
for Gabriel Pachter and his brother
Jonathan to call the synagogue their
second home. Gabe is a graduate of
Hillel Day School and Frankel Jewish
Academy. He's assumed many roles at
B'nai Moshe: kitchen helper, L.I.EE.
teacher and fill-in administrator, Torah
and ritual leader and mentor to many
of the younger members.
Jenna Sperling is a sophomore at
Walled Lake Central High School and
an active synagogue member. She
remembers her parents, Dan and Lisa,
telling her they joined B'nai Moshe
because it was so family friendly. She
put it to the test by running up to the
bimah and sitting next to the rabbi. Her
grandfather, Steven Sperling, is a recent
shul president and her father has been
nominated to be next in line.
The entire community is invited to
Shabbat morning services and a special
Kiddush on Saturday, May 21, at B'nai
Moshe.
A Shabbat dinner will be held May
20, with Rabbi Ungar speaking as
scholar in residence. A gala dinner
dance will be held May 22. For more
