of 1911, about
25 Hungarian-
Jewish families lived
in Detroit. Six recent
arrivals, not quite a
minyan, met at a res-
taurant on Hastings
Street to create a new
synagogue. One hun-
dred years later, it
is cause for celebra-
tion, especially at
Congregation B'nai
Moshe, which traces
its founding back to
that gathering.
