Pecan Crusted Cream Ch ease Fruit Flan

Nut crust:
1 cup chopped pecans (or other
favorite nut)
1 cup flour
1 /4 cup sugar
6 Tbsp. butter, softened
Filling:
1 8-oz. package cream cheese,
softened
V2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tsp. grated lemon zest
Topping:
Fresh berries (cut off green tops
and halve or quarter strawberries)
Glaze:
1 cup melted apricot preserves
or currant or apple jelly

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Make the crust: Place all the ingre-
dients in the bowl of a food processor
and process until the nuts are ground
and the crust ingredients are moist-

ened. Transfer the mixture to a 10 inch

tart pan with removable bottom. Pat
the crust mixture over the bottom and
up the sides of the pan. Bake the crust
for 20-30 minutes until browned and
dry to the touch. Let cool completely.
Prepare the filling: Combine ingredi-
ents in a medium bowl and fold gently
to mix. Spoon the mixture into the com-
pletely cooled shell and smooth the top.
Arrange berries over the filling. Brush
the glaze over the tart with a spoon or
pastry brush. Chill for several hours.
To serve: Carefully loosen the tart
bottom from the sides by applying
pressure to the bottom of the pan. Lift
the pan bottom and remove the ring.
Place the tart on a serving dish and
slice carefully into wedges. Makes 12

New Flicks

Opening Friday, May 6, is Thor,
an action adventure based on
the Marvel comic book hero cre-
ated by Stan Lee, 88, and his
brother, Larry Lieber, 79. Thor
was inspired by the myths about
the Norse god Thor, but the comic
book-movie version is mostly a
Brothers Lieber
creation.
In the film,
Thor, the thun-
der god (Chris
Hemsworth),
annoys his
father, Odin,
the king of the
Stan Lee
gods (Anthony
Hopkins), and is exiled to modern-
day New Mexico. There he is dis-
covered by a beautiful scientist
(Natalie Portman, 29). They fall
in love and battle bad gods and
nefarious government agents.
Playing Portman's perky assis-
tant is Kat Dennings, (Nick and
Norah's Infinite Playlist), 24.
Lee, whose comic creations
include Spider-Man, the Fantastic
Four and X-Men, is making his 14th
cameo in a Marvel movie in Thor.
"I'm a little sorry about these
cameos because people are so
affected by them and influenced
by them they don't notice what
else is going on in the movie," he
joked at the Nickelodeon Kids'

Trump `Investigates'

Donald Trump has received a lot
of publicity for his embrace of the
"birther" movement - the ludi-
crous claim that President Obama
was born somewhere outside the
United States.
"The Donald" also has por-
trayed himself as a big opponent
of Islamic terrorism. But the "big
investigator" couldn't be bothered
to check out actor Gary Busey
before giving him a plum slot on
the current edition of Trump's TV
program Celebrity Apprentice.
Busey co-starred in the big-
budget 2006 Turkish film Valley
of the Wolves: Iraq. He played
a Jewish-American doctor who
worked with a sadistic American
Army officer to remove body
organs from living Iraqi Muslims
and then shipped those organs to
Orthodox Jews in London, New
York and Tel Aviv.
Labeled viciously anti-Semitic
by media outlets, the film didn't
get a general theater release in
America. So Busey's immoral deci-
sion to act in this film isn't well
known. But a "crack fact hound"
like Trump should have known
about it and not hired Busey.
