Fundraiser To Benefit
Make-A-Wish Foundation
Jackie Schwartz, owner of Home
Interior Warehouse in Walled Lake,
lost her son, Jason, eight years ago at
age 25 from an undiagnosed heart
condition.
Next week, she will open the doors
of her showroom for a Wine, Dine
& Design fundraiser on Thursday,
May 5, to benefit the Make-A-Wish
Foundation.
"Make-A-Wish lets children who
are facing life-threatening medical
conditions realize a dream with their
families," said Schwartz of Novi. "We
didn't know our time with Jason
was limited, but I wanted to give
other parents the opportunity to do
something fun and special with their
children."
Schwartz partnered with Team
Gardening Specialist At
Adat Shalom Donor Day
The Sisterhood of Adat Shalom

from English Gardens at its annual

tainer gardens.
An array of boutiques have been
planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The
lunch and program will begin at
noon.
There is a minimum charge of $45
to attend the luncheon and program,
which is the sisterhood's major fun-
draising event. Lunch reservations
are required. There is no charge for
boutique shopping.
For reservation information, call
Adat Shalom, (248) 851-5100.
Adelsons Give $1M
For Campus Advocacy
NEW YORK (JTA) — Philanthropists
Miri and Sheldon Adelson have
pledged $1 million to further expand
the Israel Fellows program on North
American college campuses.
The pledge will increase the number
of involved campuses from 34 to 50.
The Israel Fellows program, a col-
laborative effort of the Jewish Agency
and Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish
Campus Life, places recent Israeli col-
lege graduates in Hillels on U.S. and
Canadian campuses to assist with
Israel education and advocacy.
The Israel Fellows also work with
Birthright Israel trip participants and
returnees, and assist students who
choose to explore options for long-
term experiential and study programs
in Israel.
Alex, a local group that participates
in Wish-A-Mile, a 300-mile, three-
day bike ride that raises funds
for Make-A-Wish. Team Alex was
started in memory of Alex Graham,
a teenager who died of bone cancer,
who benefited from Make-A-Wish
before her death.
The fundraiser will be 6-9 p.m.
Thursday, May 5, at Home Interior
Warehouse, 1017 E. West Maple
Road, Walled Lake. Tickets are $15 in
advance and $20 at the door, with all
ticket proceeds going to the charity.
The event will feature free design
tips as well as food and wine. It kicks
off the store's annual spring sale and
a portion of all sales through May 21
will go to Make-A-Wish.
For reservations, contact (248)
624-6700 or the website www.
homeinteriorwarehouse. corn.
