In the Market for a New Vehicle?

There's no doubt about it, walking into a car dealership
to buy a new vehicle can be a daunting task. There are a
few things you can do to make it an easier process.

Do your homework. Before you even go to the dealer-
ship know which vehicle you want. With the interne

you can learn all you need to know about a vehicle before
leaving your house. However, as valuable as research and reviews are, nothing can
replace the actual test drive.

Comparison shopping. Call dealerships in your area and find out if they have the
vehicle you're looking for and what deals they have going on. Comparing dealerships
will give you leverage when you start the negotiation process.

One-step at a time. Deal with the new vehicle price, financing, and your vehicle
trade-in separately. This prevents the dealership from giving you a good price on the
new vehicle and then making up that difference by giving you less for your trade-in.
Remember salespeople are good at bundling everything together and making it look
like you're getting a great deal.

Rebate versus low finance rate. Taking the low finance rate from the dealer over the
cash rebate isn't always the best route. Anytime you can lower the actual vehicle price
up front, you will save more money over the life of the loan.
