Purtan retired last year and the show

Q: Al, where did the inspiration for
Your Royal Highness come from?
A: Well, not every 56-year-old man
can proudly boast that he portrayed
Queen Elizabeth on the radio for years,
which is what I did on the "Dick Purtan
Show." Combine that with the fact that
the royal wedding was getting so much
press, it just screamed for a parody. So
I dusted off my queen costume, shined
my tiara, hired a videographer and left
my dignity at the door.

husband, writer Jeff Zaslow.
Margolis was so blown away by
Muskovitz's hilarious comedy rou-
tines and impersonations — he's got
over 60 of them — that she told him
he should be performing on the "Dick
Purtan Show." The rest is history.
Now Muskovitz, who is a member
of Temple Israel and has been active
in Jewish organizations, has a new
royally funny persona. He's dressing
up as Queen Elizabeth II and prov-
ing to be a hilarious version of Her
Royal Highness just in time for "The
Wedding of the Year!" on April 29 of
Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Muskovitz has written more than
5,000 comedy sketches and parodies
and has appeared on ABC Television's
crime drama "Detroit 1-8-7."

Q: Do you admire the Queen?
A: If you're talking about me as the
Queen, yes, I find her fascinating. If
you're talking about the "real" Queen
Elizabeth, I'd say I'm more intrigued by
her than admiring. I mean, who really
knows her well enough to make a good
assessment? I would have loved for Her
Majesty to have appeared on "Oprah."
The introduction would have been awe-
some: "Ladies and gentlemen ... Queen
Elizaaaaaaaabeth!" Everybody could have
had a free pair of the Queen's gloves or,

even better, a 2011 Horse Drawn Carriage!

Q: What do you think she would
think of your new act?
A: First of all, she'll never get to see
it. She probably doesn't go to YouTube.
But if she did, she'd probably have me
sent directly to the Tower of London for
a "haircut." I'd love to meet her while in
costume though. I picture a real cat fight.
Us women can be so catty.
