JCADA, the Jewish Coalition against
Domestic Abuse, a division of Jewish
Family Service, is sponsoring a free din-
ner for Metro Detroit Jewish teens from
5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the
Teen Center at the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield.
Goal of the event is to recruit teens to
be a part of JCADA and to involve them
in helping to create healthy relation-
ships. They also will receive community
service hours for their work.

Israel Summer Seminar
Eyes Social Justice
Applications are due May 1 to attend
a summer seminar hosted by BINA
Center for Jewish Identity and Hebrew
Culture and the Daniel Centers for
Progressive Judaism.
Participants in "Judaism & Social
Justice in 21st Century Israel" July
18-Aug. 11 will study Talmud this sum-
mer at the Secular Yeshiva in Tel Aviv
with top scholars and learn Hebrew.
They will also learn about the most
critical issues of social justice in Israel
through hands-on, volunteer experience
and tours throughout the country.
The program is for rabbis, educators,
rabbinical students, community leaders,
Jewish professionals and social activists.
Tuition fee is $1,750 including a private
room in a fully furnished apartment.

of the film Seven Minutes In Heaven

LWV Essay Contest
Winners Announced
The League of Women Voters held a
Green Power One essay contest over
the winter for Oakland County high
school students to create public service
announcements for energy conservation.
Honorees included Jeremy Fishman
of Bloomfield Hills Andover, who tied
for second place in the radio category.
A team from West Bloomfield High
School took second place in the televi-
sion category. They included Shelby
Bruseloff, Kelly Giuliani, Allie Ravid,
Nikhil Mankuzhy and Kara Brody.
