Joel Kahn, M.D. appointed to Medical Director of Wellness,

and of Preventive Cardiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation
for the Detroit Medical Center

Detroit Medical Center (DIM) has appointed Joel K. Kahn, MD.,
F.A.C,P,
ES.C.A.I. to Medical Director of Wellness and Medical Director of Preventive
Cardiolou and Cardiac Rehabilitation,

In these new roles, Dr. Kahn will develop a Preventive Cardiology clinic to identify and lower
the risk of heart disease in patients, and will lead the reopening of a standard and intensive
cardiac rehabilitation program, both at DMC Cardiovascular Institute (CVI). Dr. Kahn will
also provide ongoing education on wellness and vitality, disease prevention and reversal, and
integrative approaches to maintaining and achieving energy and health.

Dr. Kahn will use motivation, excitement, and fun to encourage people to be proactive about
their health. He'll promote plant-based whole food nutrition, increased activity on the job,
stress relief techniques, and healthy lifestyles. Plans include leading walking and stairwell
climbing programs, frequent food demonstrations and education, Internet and live lectures
on achieving full health potential, and a system wide weight loss challenge.

Dr. Kahn earned his medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School, and
completed his internship and residency at UM Medical Center. His cardiology fellowship was
completed at the University of Texas in Dallas, followed by advanced training in angioplasty
at the Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City.
