Avery attends Cranbrook/
Kingswood Boys Middle School in
Bloomfield Hills. Among his various
mitzvah projects, he felt volunteer-
ing at Yad Ezra in Berkley was most
meaningful.

He is the brother of Claudia and
Amanda and the grandchild of
Marilyn Schneid, Judy and the late
Arthur Schneid, and Sandra Halpern
and the late David Halpern.
Samuel is a student at Geisler
Middle School in Commerce
Township. He felt it was very mean-
ingful to volunteer at Yad Ezra in
Berkley as part of his mitzvah experi-
ences

Adam David
Harwood, son of
Ann and Randy
Harwood and older
brother of Evan,
will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitz-
vah on Friday, April
Harwood
15, at Temple Beth
El in Bloomfield
Township. His proud grandparents
are Dr. Robert and Elaine Spiro and
Bernard and Marilyn Harwood.
Adam is in the seventh grade
at West Hills Middle School in
Bloomfield Hills. For his most mean-
ingful mitzvah project, Adam and his
family made dog toys and donated
them along with treats to the Midwest
Small Rescue Breed Shelter, the shelter
from which they rescued their dog

Samuel Jackson
Seltzer will celebrate
his bar mitzvah dur-
ing Havdalah services
at Temple Israel in
West Bloomfield on
Saturday, April 16. He
is the son of Mimi
Seltzer
and Phillip Seltzer
and the brother of
Harrison. Included in the simchah will
be his grandmother Beatrice Seltzer
and aunts and uncles from Chicago and
Florida. Samuel's late grandparents are
Sarah Weiner Keidan, Fred H. Keidan
and Dr. Stanley Seltzer. His late great-
grandparents are Josephine and Leonard
Weiner and Bertha and Joseph Seltzer.
Samuel attends Walnut Creek
Middle School in Walled Lake. As part
of his mitzvah experience, he worked
on the Joe Cornell Social Action
Committee to plan a fundraiser for
Kids Kicking Cancer.

andy and Ronald Friedman of
Northridge, Calif., and Wanda and
Bert Pilder of West Bloomfield are
delighted to announce the engagement
of Stephanie Helen Friedman and Adam
Simeon Pilder.
Stephanie graduated from the University
of California, San Diego with a B.A. in
human development and from the University
of California, Los Angeles with a master's
in education. She works as a kindergarten
schoolteacher with the Los Angeles Unified
School District.
Adam graduated from Eastern Michigan
University with both a B.A. and master's in public administration. He worked at
the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix as the young leadership director until
2008. He was then promoted and transferred to the Jewish Federation Council of
Greater Los Angeles in their Campaign Department.
A wedding is planned for June in Los Angeles.
