Stephen Goldman, execu-
tive director of the Holocaust
Memorial Center, and Judy Levin
Cantor, historian and author of Jews
in Michigan, spoke at the recent Local
History Conference at the Michigan
State University Management Center.
Goldman discussed the Holocaust
Center's oral history program,
including the personal challenges
participants faced as they shared
their stories. Cantor explored what
local and American Jews were doing
to help during the Nazi era and the
Holocaust.

Solomon. She has

million cameras to elementary school
children. Most recently, her "Pictures
of Hope" photo project, where she
provided cameras to children in
homeless shelters in America, was
featured on CBS Evening News, People
Magazine and USA Today. Her most
recent book, The Key, The Celebrated
Unlock Their Secrets To Life, offers
insights from famous people of our
time, including Tiger Woods, Steve
Forbes and Katie Couric.

of Michigan, has
been selected by
Moore
the Organization
of American
Historians (OAH) to receive an
OAH-JAAS Short-Term Residency
at the University of Kitakyushu in
American Jewish history. The OAH
and the Japanese Association of
American Studies, with the support
of the Japan-United States Friendship
Commission, select two U.S. histori-
ans to spend two weeks at Japanese
universities giving lectures, seminars,
advising students and researchers
interested in the American past.

Miriam Lieberman was recently
named Civil Rights Area Counsel for
the Anti-Defamation League. She will
provide legal support on issues of
bigotry, hate, and discrimination to
six regional ADL offices covering the
Midwest. Lieberman will be based
in Chicago. She was most recently a
litigation attorney at Kirkland and
Ellis, LLP in Chicago, where she was
vice-chair of Kirkland's pro Bono
immigration law group.

Shirley Carp and Rose Shencopp.
