Local chefs pitch in for annual Dinner with the Masters event.

T

he amazing talents of at least 30
top local chefs will be the stars
again at the always wonderful
"Dining with the Masters" event that sells
out every year ... One of the chefs, Matt
Shellig, does something like the "Masters"
alone in front of many folks at Zazios
in Birmingham and chefs like Jeremy
Grandon of Jeremy, Keego Harbor, are
regulars at the annual portable-stove pre-
sentations with goodies for charity.
So many local culinary greats at one
shindig where tickets go faster than a
wink with much good reason ... It's a one-
of-a-kind shindig with each table having
12 guests and their own private chef, who
the attendees don't know until meal time,
preparing dinner from the gastronomic
artists' menu creations ... And the chefs
themselves even pass out their personal
hors-d'oeuvres handiwork before the
sumptuous dinners.
The date is Monday, June 6, at The
Henry, former Ritz-Carlton Dearborn,
with proceeds to the Henry Ford Hospitals'
Transport Institute ... Call Louise Rallis,

org for more info or tickets before you get
the "Sorry, no more" comeback ... Chair gal
again is Suzanne Gilson.
IT'S HARD TO believe without see-
ing the long lines at breakfast times,
especially on Saturday and Sunday, that
don't mind waiting for tables to empty at
Club Bart restaurant and entertainment
venue, Woodward, just south of Nine Mile,
Ferndale ... Just a couple of doors south of
where Charlie and Frank Pappas had their
popular Rialto Café for years ... And folks
surely won't find too many places where

gracious substitutions like
oatmeal can be gotten instead
of hashed brown potatoes
if desired ... The huge list of
breakfast features is very inter-
esting, from cherry almond
pancakes to breakfast enchi-
lada to breakfast sandwich on
challah to eggs Florentine on
English muffins to cinnamon
French toast drizzled with
caramel to about 20 interesting
omelet varieties plus almost
any other way folks want them.
If it is your first time there, tell the
server and you'll be brought a large, deli-
cious, premises-made cinnamon roll sit-
ting atop a pool of caramel at no charge ...
Seating is just for around 60, with another
10 for eating and drinking at a bar counter
... Go early on Sundays especially, unless
you like standing and drooling while oth-
ers at tables have lip-smacking good times
munching away.
DANDY DINING DEAL ... 8-ounce
broiled tilapia, with soup or salad and
choice of mashed potatoes or wild rice,
$6.95, March 24-31 ... Village Palace,
Orchard Lake Road near Pontiac Trail.
READER MINI REVIEW ... "We cel-
ebrated Mark Rubinstein's 60th birthday
at Detroit Seafood Market. Mark's wife
Arlene, Ken Korotkin, Betty Singer and my
wife, Doreen. Our waiter, Frank Fraley, was
very attentive and told us the delicious-
sounding specials. Mark was impressed
that the olives in his martini were hand-
stuffed with bleu cheese.
