Vashti's Banquet for women only set the stage for Purim.

ack by popular demand, the
Sisterhood of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek recreated Vashti's
Banquet, its infamous casbah-like "girl's
night out" as a prelude to Purim.
Belly dancer Lana Mini mesmerized
everyone into joining her in her graceful
gyrations, and Honilynn, an artist from
Gilded Lotus Henna, left her henna artistry
imprinted on many of the partygoers. Mary
Knoll, second vice president of Shaarey
Zedek, was the mixologist for the evening.
More than 60 women dined on a Middle
Eastern feast March 10 as they trans-
ported themselves back to another time
and place. ' I
