Her passion for bridal gowns and veils came while pursuing her education. Taub,
24, earned an associate of applied science degree from Parsons the New School
for Design in New York City and studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins in
London.
She also holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Michigan in Ann
Arbor. While at U-M, Taub worked in the costume shop for the musical theater program
and took independent studies in the field.
"Wedding gowns, like theatrical costumes, have the same kind of creativity and
drama," she said. "What I love about bridal is you get fantasy, drama and romance all
in one dress."
"I had interned and had a taste of the industry where designs were being done on
the computer. I wanted to draw by hand and I wanted to work directly with the cus-
tomer. So opening my own business seemed like the answer."
That answer included coming home.
"This is an industry developing and coming to Detroit,"Taub said. "At Detroit Fashion
Week [last September], I saw that there are a lot of designers here and that there was
a lot of opportunity to start my own business."
Taub literally came back home, launching her business in the basement of her par-
ents' West Bloomfield home. They are Dr. Alan and Gaye Taub.
