OAKLAND UNIVERSITY

An exceptional
education within reach

Named one of the nation's 83 doctoral research institutions by the
Carnegie Foundation, Oakland offers a research and academic environment
that rivals pricier universities. We also maintain a rich campus atmosphere
complete with residence halls, Greek life and Division I athletics. Global
opportunities, progressive IT services and career-focused learning
experiences mean OU graduates are more marketable than ever. With its
accessible location in suburban Rochester, Michigan, OU offers an
exceptional, affordable education that's close to home.

OAKLAND UNIVERSITY WILLIAM BEAUMONT
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) has awarded
preliminary accreditation to the Oakland University William Beaumont
School of Medicine. The charter class of 50 students will begin instruction
in August 2011. Students will receive instruction in the basic sciences and
research on Oakland University's campus in Rochester, and complete clinical
training and participate in applied research at Beaumont Hospitals.

THE JUDAIC STUDIES PROGRAM

Oakland's unique Judaic Studies program presents the opportunity
to gain knowledge and understanding of the multi-faceted and fascinating
religion and culture of the Jewish people. OU offers a wide variety of
classes on Jewish beliefs and values, history, literature, film, archaeology
and Hebrew.

Additionally, the program strives to present opportunities to participate in
international fieldwork. On a recent trip to Khirbet Qeiyafa, the ancient site
reputed to be the location of the biblical clash between David and Goliath,
13 OU students assisted with an archaeological excavation. The trip was
the culmination of a course that instructed students in how to research and
analyze the way archaeology, culture and biblical history work together.
