JWF Event Focuses On Women's Issues T he Jewish Women's Foundation's annual Women Lighting the Way forum on Thursday, March 17, will feature keynote speaker Anne Firth Murray, a professor of human biol- ogy at Stanford University. Murray's work -:' in establishing the first foundation dedicated solely to funding proj- ects that benefit women around the world created Anne Firth a new paradigm Murray for the many women's funds that followed. Her book Paradigm Found: Leading and Managing for Positive Change charts her journey with the Global Fund for Women and offers insights to all involved in organizational work. Her talk here will focus on the work of the Global Fund and her other book, From Outrage to Courage: Women Taking Action for Health and Justice, which will be distributed free to event partici- pants. "In 1999, the JWF invited the community to 'imagine the pos- sibilities' of Jewish women coming together to make a difference in the lives of other Jewish women," said Trudi Wineman, JWF chair. "Since that time, the JWF has grown to more than 200 trustees and alum- nae. Since our founding year, JWF trustees have awarded more than $1.2 million in grants and alloca- tions to benefit Jewish women and girls locally and in Israel." Event co-chairs are Debra Singer and Stacy Brickman, both of West Bloomfield. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. March 17 at the Community House in Birmingham. Tickets are $25.
