A recent article on Beaumont
Hospitals' website pressroom page
reminded me of when Bob Silverman,
owner of Silverman's Deli in Farmington
Hills, was so proud of losing weight that
he always carried a picture in his wallet of
when he weighed 450 pounds instead of
the svelte 200 that Bob was down to.
This is about localite events planner
Ida Nemzin going from 350 to her present
130 pounds through bariatric surgery ...
"I didn't consider bariatric surgery as an
easy way out:' says Ida in the story. "This is
what I needed to save my life."

Ida Nemzin six years ago ...

Getting off all that unneces-
sary poundage is no small feat
in itself, but maintaining her
weight loss ... Aha, that's the
trick! ... After six years, looks
like Ida has mastered a take-
off-to-stay routine.
She works very hard at
keeping it off, telling me that
exercise and sticking to a set
plan "allows me to go out and
eat without feeling as though
I can't have anything. I eat
healthy foods, fresh fruit, vegetables,
chicken, fish and a little meat, making
choices with very important portion con-
trol.
"I don't have a problem going out to
restaurants again, reading the menu
over carefully. If I don't see what I
should be eating, most places will adjust
for you, which is why I choose Bacco
[Northwestern Highway, Southfield] often.
Chef Luciano [owner/chef Luciano Del
Signore] has a wonderful menu with an
array prepared and seasoned for scrump-
tious taste, like the delicious filet I have
there with fresh steamed spinach. I don't
feel like I am eating diet food. Bacco also
has a wonderful vegan menu that I often
order as well."
Ida says that hubby, Mark Nemzin,
watches what he eats also, "but if he gets
something that I feel I shouldn't have, it
doesn't bother me. I made the change for a
lifetime, and I am not going back!!!"

had two meals at Recipes
Restaurant on Haggerty and
Grand River [Novi] and they
were absolutely wonderful.
The first was with a group of
25 people who ordered off the menu and
had a variety of selections. They requested
the chef to come out and applauded him.
"The second meal was with a party
of four and all meals were marvelous. It
has a choice of three elegantly presented
desserts. All menu items are reasonably
priced. This place is a jewel that few know
