T
earns from eight local busi-
nesses braved the single-digit
weather Feb. 10 to compete
in a snowman-building contest orga-
nized by and benefiting the Friendship
Circle in West Bloomfield.
The competition was a creative
way to garner local corporate sup-
port for the organization that works
with children with special needs.
Participating companies were One
Reverse Mortgage, Image One in Oak
Park, R*Works in Detroit, Identity
PR in Bingham Farms, and Brogan
& Partners, Sachse Construction,
Universal McCann and MRM
Worldwide, all in Birmingham.
Barnum Park in Birmingham was the
site where each company worked on a
10-foot by 10-foot plot of land with snow
tools and decorations. After building
their creations, teams gathered in a heat-
ed tent and enjoyed hot coffee provided
by Starbucks of downtown Birmingham.
"These companies arrived to our
event with designs in hand, tools
to accomplish their designs and
an enthusiasm that brought a real
warmth to the ice-cold park:' said
Bassie Shemtov, founder and director
of Friendship Circle.
"One team brought an entire water
truck to ensure their snow was pack-
able in the freezing temperatures. We
were blown away by their excitement
and preparation."
