READER MINI REVIEW ... "On a
recent evening, my husband, Harold
Schreiber and I went to Bacco's
[Southfield]. Earlier in the week, owner
Luciano Del Signore told us he was smok-
ing his own pheasant to stuff ravioli for
the weekend. I couldn't resist and we went
to try them.
"What exquisite dining! An extreme
delight to experience fresh, homemade
gourmet with elegance and flair. In these
long, cold winter nights, I can think of
nothing better than delicious comfort
foods on the highest level. Bacco's pasta
fagioli was superb with wonderful veg-
etables and not too heavy on the pasta and
beans." ... Dr. Susan Harold.
READER REMEMBERS DEPT. ..."I
appreciate a good balancing act when
recalling my being a waiter years ago in
Brooklyn, N.Y., while attending Fordham

University. I tried to help another waiter by
grabbing his tray that seemed three feet tall,
carefully balancing it as I started to walk.
"Suddenly, I was flying through the air
after slipping on some butter, falling to my
knees and then onto my chest with both
arms extended but not breaking a single
plate. Everything went quiet except for
the huge cheer that wildly went up for my
entrance into and exit from show busi-
ness." ...Jerry Silecchia.
QUESTION & ANSWER DEPT....
"We spend the winters in Florida and are
always eager to return there before the
snow comes. We like TooJays Delicatessen
in Florida and wonder how it got its name.

GETTING FOLKS to visit newly-
opened restaurants is many times not
difficult ... Curiosity usually takes prece-
dence then over just about everything else,
including food, price and service ... Unless
it is just to see if any change has been
made, guys and gals going back a second
or more times is the real criteria ... Then
for sure, the food, prices and service take
over in a big way ... This is a major reason
why most too-early reviews are so very
meaningless.
