David Eisman, 89 of Delray, Fla., died on Jan. 20, 2011. Founder of Eisman Chiropractic Clinic in Detroit, Dr. Eisman was a progressive thinker, Dr. David Eisman promoting alterna- tive health care for more than 45 years. He was endeared by his patients. His thirst for knowledge and perfecting his skills had him returning to school earning two post-doctorate degrees as well as being a certified acupuncturist. He was a true advocate for his patients. On any day, you could see him walk- ing around the clinic doing magic tricks, putting a smile on his patients' faces. He was also a budding artist. His tal- ents ranged from being an avid wood- worker and photographer to drawing. Years later at the Florida Atlantic University Memory Center, he began to paint. One of his paintings became the official greeting card and poster pro- moting the center. He was a World War II veteran, awarded the Purple Heart. Dr. Eisman was also a 32nd Degree Mason. He had many interests including tennis and golf. Whenever asked how things were going, his moniker was "Fantastic". Dr. Eisman is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey Nancy Benchell Eisman; daughters and sons- in-law, Sheryl and Arnie Siegel, Jackie and Sandy Layne; stepdaughter, Rachel Alters. He was Poppa Dave to his grandchildren, Benjamin, Eli, Joseph Eisman, Jeffrey Siegel, Marc (Dawn) Siegel, Jonathon (fiancee Mari), Lizzy Layne, Nicole (Rick) Kovacs, Rachel (Andy) Singer, Adam (Sharon) Layne, Logan, Dawson, Cameron Alters; he had nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife, Rita. Dr. Eisman was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn Wolock Eisman; step- father of the late David Belenson. Contributions may be made to the Eisman Family Fund at B'nai Israel Synagogue of West Bloomfield or Michigan Alzheimer's Association.
