Family Chair in
Dr. Benjamin
Jewish History
Gampel
at the Jewish
Theological
Seminary and teaches courses in
medieval and early modern Jewish
history, with a special focus on the
medieval Sephardim.
A Kabbalat Shabbat service will
be 5 p.m. Friday. Shabbat Shaboom
program for young children and
their families is at 5:45 p.m.
Following a casual Shabbat buffet
dinner, Dr. Gampel will speak on
"Sephardic Jewry Comes of Age:
How Golden Was It?"
Childcare will start at 7 p.m.
At 7:30 p.m., children will enjoy
Amazing Clark, a magician and
puppeteer.
Traditional services will begin at
9 a.m. Saturday. At 10 a.m., Rabbi
Aaron Bergman will hold a study
session, "The Holy Temple Was
Never Destroyed — How the Talmud
United Heaven and Earth."
Rabbi Rachel Shere will con-
duct an 11 a.m. study session
on "Proverbs 31: What is a 21st
Century Woman of Valor."
Junior Congregation and Tots &
Torah begins at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.
Following all services, there will be
an enhanced kiddush.
In a post-kiddush program,
Dr. Gampel will discuss "The
Muslims Fall and the Christians are
Triumphant. What About the Jews?"
SYNergy programming is chaired
by Karen Kahn of West Bloomfield.
The community is welcome to
all of the services and programs
at no charge. There is a charge for
Shabbat dinner dinner and reserva-
tions are required.
