onna and Victor Widenbaum
of San Ramon, Calif., formerly
of Southfield, are delighted to
announce the engagement of their daughter
Amy Lynn to Ian Livingston Mendel, son of
David and "Catchy" McDowell of Ann Arbor.
Amy earned her master's degree in social
work from Wayne State University. She is
a clinical psychotherapist and marriage
and family therapist in private practice in
Livonia.
Ian received a bachelor of science degree
in sociology with a minor in political sci-
ence from Hope College in Holland, Mich.,
and earned postgraduate certifications in photography and digital film produc-
tion. He is a freelance photographer, documentarian and movie producer.
Amy and Ian met through their dog playgroup in 2009. A June 2011 wedding
is planned at the Detroit Opera House.

Township will celebrate their 50th
wedding anniversary on Jan. 22.
Following a recent cruise to the Panama
Canal, they will continue the celebration
this spring with a special event shared with
friends, family and children, Shari and Mark
