BBYO's Progress
Thank you for highlighting BBYO's 2010
Regional Convention ("BBYO Bash!" Jan.
6, page 44). We were delighted to witness
more than 400 Jewish teens engaging in
positive and meaningful activities dur-
ing this year's RC, including raising more
than $3,000 for local charities. The teens
exemplified sportsmanship, friendly
competition, safety and menschlikeit.
We extend thanks the 200-plus adult
volunteers and judges from our wonder-
ful community who helped make RC
possible. In addition, we wish to thank
the Jewish Community Center and
Temple Israel, both in West Bloomfield,
which hosted our activities this year.
Of course, we must congratulate
the members of Kulanu BBG & Evan
Shapiro AZA, the winners of the Most

BOUT HOME, FAMILY AND

‘,

Distinguished Chapter Awards this year.
Lastly, we wish to thank those
who supported BBYO at the Talent
Show Reception, especially those who
pledged $360 toward BBYO's 360@$360
Club. We're already 20 percent of the way
to our goal of 360 community members
investing $30/month in BBYO and the
Jewish teens we serve.
As we realized a 15 percent growth in
our teen involvement last year — and are
up 10 percent year-to-date this year —
BBYO provides meaningful Jewish expe-
riences for more Jewish teens in Metro
Detroit than we have in years, thanks to
our community's support.

• The Editor's Letter
"Helen Thomas'
Slander Of Jews" (Dec.
9, page 5) should have
stated that there were
three Jewish members
of the Wayne State
University Board
Annetta Miller of Governors at the
time: Eugene Driker, Richard Bernstein
and Annetta Miller. Bernstein did not
seek re-election. Miller is in her second
eight-year term. She's a Jewish war
veteran, having served in the U.S. Army
Nurses Corps, European Theatre of

Operations during World War II. She is a
former 24-year member of the Michigan
State Board of Education.
• In "Music To Stir The Soul (Jan. 6,
page 46), the correct e-mail address to
contact Hatikvah Music is klezcorner@
aol.com. The telephone number is (323)
655-7083.
• In "Beyond The Honeymoon" (Jan. 6.
page 15), the photo caption of the man
and woman should have read "Ryan and
Natalie Stacey of Meijer."
• In "BBYO Bash" (Jan. 6, page 44),
BBYO corrected information supplied to
us. Kulanu BBG and Evan Shapiro AZA
earned Most Distinguished Chapter
titles.
