in all media, which is ubiquitous and influential.

experience an elegant coffee and dessert bar as
only The Townsend can do it.
Robert Mankoff has edited dozens of cartoon

Here are some ways our donors have impacted the
people and land of Israel:
Bridge Building from page 33
actions it took — and continues to
take to its credit — without asking
the other side to "prove itself."
If someone who was judged to be
a "friend" of Jews could not corn-
mit to such a basic human rights
issue, even after some cajoling, what
can be expected of those who are
"unfriendly"?
The bottom line is we have learned
nothing from these experiences. We
continue to denigrate ourselves by
holding out olive branches to those
who have no interest in accepting
them and who make a charade of so-
called bridge-building at our expense.
We will make progress in fight-
ing anti-Semitism when we stand
up for ourselves, when we insist on
being respected, when we make it
clear we will not compromise on
basic principles, expecting the same
unquestioned decency we extend
and have always extended to oth-
ers — and when we state forcefully
that these demands are not subject to
negotiation.
Once we take this stand, we will
have a foundation on which strong
and formidable bridges can be built.

this terrible fire, KKL-JNF's dedicated

Answering
Israel's Critics
The Charge
Bus ads accusing Israel of corn-
mitting war crimes were created
by an Israel-bashing group (but
after strong pro-Israel protest
were rejected by the Seattle
transportation authority).
"During the shelling, we couldn'
do anything but stay at home...
When I entered the playground
for the first time I was
absolutely shocked. I couldn't
believe someone would build
such an amazing place for the
children of Sderot."

The Answer
Israeli defense forces follow one
of the world's strictest moral
codes. Its government abides
by international laws governing
war and combat; and the army
investigates and prosecutes
soldiers who violate its codes of
conduct.
