T he Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System honored Mort and Brigitte Harris with the 2010 Ford Family Award for their continued support of Henry Ford Hospital's Neuroscience Institute. The Bloomfield Hills couple sup- ports stroke research, generously donating the funding that established the Neuroscience Unit at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. The Harrises also provided the funding to establish the Harris Stroke Center in the Emergency Department at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, creating a tele-network among the four Henry Ford Medical Group stroke-certified emergency departments. The network saves lives by provid- ing experts and resources instantly for quick, efficient care. The award was presented at the recent Henry Ford Hospital Grand Ball, celebrating the hospital's 95th year of service to Southeast Sinai Guild Grants The Metro Detroit-based Sinai Guild is accepting grant proposals for 2011. It has a long tradition of supporting the medical community by awarding grants to help Detroit Medical Center hospitals, as well as organizations that serve the Jewish community, conduct research and buy medical equipment The Sinai Guild has awarded more than $2 million in grants to area hospi- tals and organizations since 2001. The new application, the Kotel Application, was released in Hebrew, English and Russian by the Western Wall Heritage Center. It permits users to see a live video feed of the Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem. They also can send a note to the wall and use the application's compass to pray in the direction of the wall. The application is free at Apple's iTunes store.
