A Shabbat honoring those who had a bar/bat mitzvah or consecration at B'nai Moshe will be held Saturday, Feb. 5. A Shabbat honoring those who were married at B'nai Moshe will be held Saturday, March 5. Participants should arrive by 9:30 a.m. "Each one of our alumni who celebrated a lifecyde event at B'nai Moshe are so very much a part of our history that we want to welcome and honor them all as part of our 100 Years Anniversary Celebration:' said Annette Kaufman, event chair. "We envision completely filling our bimah on each of these two dates with alumni who celebrated at either the present building or any one of our pre- vious locations:' Rabbi Elliot Pachter will invoke a special prayer over all of alumni and many will participate throughout the services. Each Shabbat service will be followed by a special Kiddush, which will provide an opportunity for alumni to reminisce and reconnect with old friends. Call the synagogue office at (248) 788 0600 to find out how to be a part of B'nai Moshe's anniversary celebra- tion by listing your lifecyde events in the celebration book for the synagogue's special anniversary weekend May 20-22 or through the shul's "Building for Tomorrow" brick project 0 Seniors Help Detroit Schoolchildren Residents of Meer Apartments in West Bloomfield, part of Jewish Senior Life of Metropolitan Detroit, have been busy all month collecting school sup- plies and Box Tops for Education for the students of Wilkins Elementary School in Detroit. "Our residents love to give back to the community; they feel good when they are helping others:' said Melanie Gorman, program coordinator. "Meer residents always come through for the needs of others:' said Fran Penskar, a resident volunteer who helps coordinate and facilitate Meer's many charitable drives. "If you can give of yourself, you feel that you are making a differ- ence." This project will culminate with a special ceremony on Jan. 11 when some of the children from Wilkins will come to Meer with their princi- pal, Yvonne Stokes. Meer residents will present the students with the school supplies and Box Tops they have col- lected. The residents and the children will have an opportunity to get to know each other over refreshments. "We have done many charitable drives in the past, but there is some- thing very special about being able to get to know the people that you are helping:' Gorman said. -
