9, 2010.
She is survived
by her daughters

Ferndale and Linda Palmer Amberg
and Bernie Amberg of Sand Lake;

Catherine Lankford and her fiance
Robert Kerr, Ryan Kass, Evan Kass
and Juice Polster.
Mrs. Palmer was the beloved wife
of the late William B. Palmer; cher-
ished sister of the late Ruth Sheraga
Jones.

RUTH (GOODMAN) RETKO, 84,

of Farmington Hills, died Dec. 11,
2010, at Henry Ford Hospital in West
Bloomfield.
She worked for Troy Schools' busi-
ness department. She was a master
gardener and member of gardening
clubs. She loved mushrooming and
traveling.
Mrs. Retko is survived by her
devoted partner of 25 years, Irwin
(Ernie) Goodman; her loving son,
Eric (Pia) Retko; granddaughter,
Belle of North Carolina; Ernie's
daughter, Judy (Paul) Lipson; their
children, Brian and Marie-Christine
and daughter Stella, Rachel, Stacey;
numerous friends and other family.
She was the daughter of the late
Marion and the late Milton Hager.
In the final years of her
Alzheimer's, she was lovingly cared
for by Ernie and caregivers, April,
Laverne, Marquetta, Michelle and
Florie. Her body is being donated to
the Wayne State University Medical
School, where her legacy for giving
and learning continues.

Contributions may be made to the
Alzheimer's Association of Michigan,
the Brown Memory Center at the
West Bloomfield JCC, or a charity of
one's choice.
A memorial service will be held at
a future time.

NORMAN M. SOBEL, 83, formerly of
West Bloomfield of Scottsdale, Ariz.,
died Dec. 6, 2010.
He was an aerial photographer
for the U.S. Nayy and later co-owner
of Lobby Hobby Camera Shops in
Michigan.
Mr. Sobel is survived by his wife
of 61 years, Rose; sons, Dr. Larry
(Audrey) Sobel, Dr. Bruce (Debbie)
Sobel and Dr. Jerry Sobel; grandchil-
dren, Ashley and Whitney.
Graveside services were held in
Phoenix. Contributions may be
made to Hospice of the Valley —

JOSHUA A. SWEITZER, 39, of

Chicago, formerly of Louisville, KY,
died Dec. 9, 2010.
He was employed as the head
trader for Delaware Street Capital
and a 1992 graduate of University of
Michigan.
Mr. Sweitzer is survived by his
beloved wife and best friend, Dena
(Lambert) Sweitzer; loving children,
Alexandra and Kate; devoted par-
ents, Dr. Stephan and Helen Sweitzer
of Louisville; cherished sisters and
brother-in-law, Dr. Rebecca and Eric
Feller of Louisville, Liza Sweitzer;
grandmother, Judith Sweitzer;
mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ann
and Hal Lambert of Bloomfield Hills;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, of
Danny and Allison Gordon Lambert;
nephews and nieces, Jonah and
Rachel Feller, Ella, Teddy and Josie
Lambert.
Services were held at Anshe Emet
Synagogue, 3751 N. Broadway,
Chicago. Interment at Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made
to the Alexandra and Kate Sweitzer
