Alan Hitsky Associate Editor L exi Glickman is on her way to being an accomplished artist. The Akiva Hebrew Day School fifth-grader from Southfield comes by her art talent honestly. The 10-year-old daughter of Robyn and David Glickman follows her father's tal- ent. He works at Ford Motor Engineering, but does graphic art work on the side. "I like to draw and do all kinds of art," said Lexi. "I like to paint?' Her dad says Lexi also does electronic art, "and her technique is getting better all the time." Lexi has won honorable mention in the Jewish News Chanukah Art Contest in the past. This year, she's the grand prize winner. She was one of 78 entrants in the contest's age 10-12 division this year. There were a total of 314 entries, including 150 in the age 7-9 division and 86 from age 6-and-under. In addition to having her artwork displayed on the cover of today's Jewish News, Lexi earned a $100 cash prize. Winners in the various age groups — Julia Bienstock, Rose Sher and Naomi Lupovitch — will each receive $18 from the Jewish News. ❑ Entries On Display All 314 Chanukah Art Contest entries will be displayed on a rotating basis at the Beaumont Medical Building in West Bloomfield (6900 Orchard Lake Rd.) as part of the Chanukah Wonderland spon- sored by the Sara & Morris Tugman Bais Chabad Torah Center of West Bloomfield and the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
