Friendship Circle, the West Bloomfield-based Chabad-Lubavitch nonprofit that brings together teen- age volunteers and children with special needs, has its own design of Jewly Bandz, described by their cre- ators as "Jewish Silly Bandz." "Around Metro Detroit, we began seeing and hearing about the Silly Bandz craze," said Bassie Shemtov, director of Friendship Circle's Ferber Kaufman LifeTown. "Naturally, we thought to jump on the bandwagon and add some brace- lets to our Imprint The World cloth- ing line. "Around that same time, we received an e-mail from a fel- low Friendship Circle chapter and they, too, had interest. We coordi- nated a large order among 10 other Friendship Circle locations:' The Friendship Circle Collection's 12 bands — in six different shapes — include the words "friend" and "circle;' a star of David, the Friendship Circle logo and two people dancing hand-in-hand. Shemtov and her husband Rabbi Levi Shemtov, founded Friendship Circle in 1994. There are now 11,000 Friendship Circle members in more than 75 chapters worldwide. "The Friendship Circle tries to stay current and innovative with our clothing line trends," Bassie Shemtov said.
