RICHARD NEIL (SHEINBERG)
SHIELDS , 90, of West Bloomfield, died
Nov. 26, 2010.
He served with distinction during
World War II as a naval lieutenant and
was the skipper of a landing craft in the
Pacific. He returned to the states and
earned a master's degree in engineering.
He had over a 30-year career as an engi-
neer for the Ford Motor Company.
He is remembered as a gentle and lov-
ing man who expressed his patience and
generosity by caring for his family day and
after, without losing his own love for life.
His wife and children (and their families)
are grateful for his role in their lives over
these many years and will deeply miss
him. An avid reader, Mr. Shields donated
his time to the Friendshop of the West
Bloomfield Library and was a cherished
resident of the Meer Jewish Apartments.
Mr. Shields is survived by his wife of
62 years, Floraine Frank Shields; two
sons and their wives, Dr. Anthony Shields
and Dr. Fayth Yoshimura of Bloomfield
Hills, Leland Shields and Dr. Lili Church
of Seattle, Wash.; his daughter and her
husband, Dr. Lucy Shields Henney and

Raymond Henney of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren Shields,
Eli Hennon, Maya Shields, and Wade,
Bryce and Rheanna Henney; loving
friends and other family.
Mr. Shields is the beloved son of the late
Louis and the late Lillian Sheinberg; cher-
ished brother of the late Monroe and the
late Frances Sheinberg and the late Roslyn
and the late Samuel Bernstein.
Interment at Beth El Memorial Park.

ERWIN SIMON, 97, of Huntington
Woods, died Nov. 12, 2010.
There will be a memorial service on
Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. at Maas Chapel at Temple
Beth El.

SALLY WATERSTONE, 81, of West
Bloomfield, died Nov. 26, 2010.
She was a retired teacher with the
Livonia school system.
She is survived by her sons and daugh-
ter-in-law, Jack and Hannah Waterstone
of Oak Park, Dan Waterstone of Vermont;
daughter and son-in-law, Dena "Donna"

Park; son and daughter-in-law, Laurence
and Emily Wine of Royal Oak; grandchil-
dren, Sarah and Adam Lynch, Emma and
Rachel Wine; loving brothers, sisters, other
