rwin Simon, 97, of Huntington
Woods, died Nov. 12, 2010.
He was born on June 16, 1913,
to Minnie (Kramer) and Louis Simon in
Lansing, where he spent his childhood.
Mr. Simon was active in
scouting and proud to have
achieved his Eagle Scout
status. He received his
bachelor's and law degrees
from the University of
Michigan and then served
as a law clerk for Henry
M. Butzel, the chief justice
of the Michigan Supreme
Court.
Erwin Simon
Mr. Simon married
Eleanor M. Butzel in 1940.
He served in the U.S. Army and was in
the Pacific theater in World War II. In
1938, he joined the Detroit law firm of
Butzel, Levin and Winston (later Butzel,
Keidan, Simon, Myers and Graham),
transferred to the firm of Butzel Long
in 1991 and retired from practicing law
in 2000.
Following the death of his wife,
Eleanor, he married Marjorie Steinhardt
Hecht in 1981. Mr. Simon was very
active in the Detroit community,
serving as an officer of the Jewish
Vocational Service, the Jewish Welfare
Federation, the United Jewish Charities
SHIRLEY BAKER, 87, of Southfield, died
Nov. 9, 2010.
She is survived by her brothers and
sister-in-law, Victor Morros of West
Bloomfield and Jack and Rosalind
Morros of Mission Viejo, Calif.; nieces
and nephews, Penny and Joel Woolf and
Mark and Cari Morros; many loving
great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Baker was the beloved wife of the
late Harry Baker.

Mr. Simon was the beloved husband
of the late Eleanor Butzel Simon; the
dear brother of the late Rena Thal.

MAGDA BEER BRUMER, 95, of West
Bloomfield, died Nov. 12, 2010.
She was a member of B'nai Moshe and
Hadassah.
Mrs. Brumer is survived by her son
and daughter-in-law, Peter and Rosalie
Beer of West Bloomfield.
She was the wife of the late Alex Beer
and the late Max Brumer.

Mrs. Fox is survived by her beloved
husband of 63 years, Hyman Fox; her son

granddaughter, Eryn Fox.
She was the loving mother of the late
Aaron Hersh Fox; loved by nieces, neph-
ews, grandnieces, grandnephews and
cousins.

CHARLES LUKACS,
93, of West Bloomfield,
died Nov. 15, 2010.
He was born Jan. 1,
1917, in Tamashida,
Hungary, which
later became part of
Romania when the
borders of the Austro-
Hungarian empire were
redrawn after World
War I. His mother
was Borbala (Grim)
Lovy and his father
was Samuel Lovy. His
UST birth name was Karoly
•
Lovy, but his name was
changed when he immi-
grated to the United States in 1958. As a
young man, Mr. Lukacs barely survived
the Holocaust and interment in labor
camps; his mother and sister were killed.
He was a furrier by trade and his hobby
was writing poetry.
Mr. Lukacs is survived by his beloved
wife of 65 years, Eva Lukacs; son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. William Lukacs and
Dr. Jane Lukacs; grandson and wife, Dr.
Nicholas and Amy Lukacs; great-grand-
children, Matthew and Kylie Lukacs.
