Save automatically. You can do this easily by taking
advantage of Direct Deposit to your checking or sav-
ings account.

Pay your bills on time. By paying your bill even a day late you could be assessed a
late fee or penalty. So save yourself some money by paying on time.

Account for your money. People who know where their money goes spend far less
and save more. One way to account for your money is to go over the last few years
of credit card bills or debit card statements and see what you've spent money on.

Adopt the "do I really need this" approach. Before purchasing anything, ask
yourself if you really need to have it. Distinguish between what is a need versus
what is a want.

Comparison shop before you make a major purchase. A few minutes of research
could save you hundreds of dollars.

Buy the cheaper generic brand. Rather than choosing expensive name brands,
consider purchasing generic brands on things that make no difference who manufac-
tured the product. Some examples include aspirin, flour, sugar, etc..

Be prepared. Build an emergency fund to avoid having to take out a loan to pay for
unexpected purchases.
