Rabbi Tovia Singer, founder of Outreach
Judaism, dedicated to countering the efforts
of Christian evangelical groups that specifi-
cally target Jews for conversion, will speak at
two free events that are open to the public.
His visit is hosted by the Jewish Community
Center of Metropolitan Detroit's Seminars for
Adult Jewish Enrichment, the Michigan Jewish
Institute and the Shul-Chabad Lubavitch.
Singer will speak 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov.
18, at the Janice Charach Gallery at the West
Bloomfield JCC on "Jesus Was a Jew, But Can
a Jew Be for Jesus?" His talk will focus on
why Judaism does not accept the Christian
messiah.
At 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, his speech at the
Shul, 6890 W. Maple, West Bloomfield, titled
"Text Twist: How Missionaries Manipulate
Jewish Scriptures" will examine the ways in
which missionaries mistranslate and even
invent biblical verses in the Hebrew texts.

Israel Bonds' Art And Home Tour Raises $500,000
An art and home tour sponsored by the Metro Detroit Women's Division of the
Development Corporation for Israel/State of Israel Bonds raised more than $500,000
in investment capital for the Jewish state.
