'A Huge Heart'

amey Moray

never ended a
phone call to his mother with-
out saying "I love you."
He had a way of making each person
he knew feel like a valued member of
his world. Hundreds of friends and
family members attended the funeral
of Mr. Moray, 45, who was killed in a
pedestrian-car accident on Orchard
Lake Road in West Bloomfield in the
early morning of Nov. 8, 2010.
At the time of his death, Mr. Moray,
who lived in Farmington Hills, had
been on the verge of starting a new
business venture, a coupon book called
"A Taste of Northwestern Highway"
composed of discounts and special
offers from local restaurants. He had
talked to his brother, Jon Moray, about
his excitement over launching the new
enterprise.
"He hadn't even picked the cou-
pon book up from the printer, and he
already had pre-orders:' said Jon. "He
was very creative, and he could sell
anything."
In his eulogy, Rabbi Dannel Schwartz

j

of Temple Shir Shalom
in West Bloomfield con-
firmed Jamey's extraor-
dinary sales prowess.
"He was literally the
best salesman I have
ever met in my entire
life, even better than his
father:' said the rabbi,
referring to Bernard
Moray, an owner of
Jamey Moray
Gorman's furniture
stores.
Jamey was known for his ready smile,
his charming personality and his kind-
ness.
"Jamey was a very sensitive person
with a huge heart:' said Rabbi Levi
Shemtov, executive director of the
Friendship Circle in West Bloomfield,
an organization that serves children
with special needs. "He was one of
the first people my wife, Bassie, and I
met when we moved to Michigan. The
Morays have become like family to us,
so this is a personal loss."

He Touched Many Lives
Within hours of his death, a multitude
of messages were posted on Mr. Moray's

Facebook page by people
all over the world whose
lives he had touched.
"Before 'friend'
became a verb, he was
friending everyone he
could find, regardless of
race, color, creed or sex,
especially those people
in need:' said Rabbi
Schwartz. "He just
wanted to help."
Mr. Moray was
known for always taking time out from
whatever he was doing to help someone
else.
"He was a very spiritual person who
gave a lot of thought to whom he was
and what his place in the world should
be said Rabbi Yisrael Pinson, direc-
tor of the Daniel B. Sobel Friendship
House, a Jewish-based recovery pro-
gram in West Bloomfield. "He was con-
cerned with being a better person and
helping other people
Rabbi Schwartz said that Mr. Moray
was the personification of promise, but
that his demons sometimes got in his
way.
"All he wanted to do was to please, to

get your attention, to make you fall in
love with him over and over again; he
was the kind of kid who left footprints
in your life said the rabbi.
"Jamey had a wonderful sense of
humor," said his girlfriend, Allison
Moffo. "He could always make me
laugh."
