hen the curtain went up on
West Side Story at Detroit's
Fisher Theatre Oct. 14,
the seats were filled with 2,200 JARC
supporters. Friends and fans of the
Farmington
Hills-based
nonprofit
agency, which
enables people
with disabili-
ties to live full,
dignified lives,
flocked to the
theater for the
group's 30th
annual fall fun-
draiser. JARC
operates 20
group homes and serves more than 450
local families.
"Look around you; there's barely an
empty seat': said co-chair Susie Pappas
of Bloomfield Hills."This is a testament
that, even in this economy, we are all
here in support of an unbelievable orga-
nization. We thank you from the bottom
of our hearts!" Sharon Eisenshtadt of
Bloomfield Hills, Ron Applebaum of
Huntington Woods and David Carroll
of West Bloomfield also co-chaired
the event. Fifth Third Bank served as
corporate title sponsor. Before show
time, about 250 young adults attended
a "Rumble Lounge" pre-glow, including
a strolling supper and cocktails. The
pre-glow was underwritten by Quicken
Loans and catered by Matt Prentice.
The office of Joseph Z. Kowalsky, JD, a 2010 5-Star
Wealth Manager, is sponsoring the November 19th and
20th showings of the 1940 classic and Oscar winner.
The Philadelphia Story, starring Cary Grant, Katharine
Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart at the beautiful Redford
Theatre, on Lahser Rd. at Grand River, in Detroit.
