Shelli Liebman Dorfman Senior Writer A 44-cent postage stamp cre- ated for Chanukah last year has been reissued for 2010 and should now be available locally. The stamp, issued last October, was designed by Carl T. Herrman of North Las Vegas, Nev. The design features a photo of a menorah with nine lit candles designed by Lisa Regan of the Garden Deva Sculpture Company in Tulsa, Okla., and photographed by Ira Wexler of Braddock Heights, Md. The 2009 stamp is the third U.S. issuance to commemorate the holiday, following a stylized illustration of a menorah issued in 1996 and an ornate dreidel design in 2004. Ronald Scheiman of Boynton Beach, Fla., created the Quest for Annual Hanukkah Stamps (www.hanuk- kahstampquest.com) as a campaign to have the U.S. Postal Service issue a new and different Chanukah stamp every year as he says it does for Christmas. But on years when no stamp is issued, he said, "Post offices will sell leftover stamps if they have any or order more stamps if they, individually, decide to do so." Adamant about having the stamps supplied, he said, "If [they] are not avail- able at your post office and they tell you, `It's last year's and we don't have any left, or 'We ran out and didn't reorder any more or any other reason for not hav- ing the stamp available, please let me know. Send me that information includ- ing the town name and zip code of the post office to hanukkah@att.net: ' Looking to make Chanukah stamps more widely used, he said, "Even though there has been a stamp avail- able every year since 1996, I still meet people who do not know there is a U.S. [Chanukah] stamp." ❑ / /1 /1 / Man-O-Manischewitz cooks sought for %nnuai big-prize contest. p' Jobs, Jobs, Jobs ... it Red Thread ak Amateur Shell Liebman Dorfman Senior Writer haring recipes with family and friends can warrant a nice "thank you:' but shar- ing them with Manischewitz can bring a $25,000 prize package.
