musicians will be going
on the auction block
Saturday, Oct. 23, to

support the Charles A.
Main, M.D. Pediatric
Cancer Survivor Scholarship Fund of
Royal Oak-based Beaumont Hospitals.
Karen Davidson and her family will be
honored at the event for their support
of the Detroit-based Henry Ford Health
System and others within their commu-
nities.
The Stars Guitars gala will take place at
the Ford Community and Performing Arts
Center in Dearborn. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Guitars up for auction are autographed
by well-known artists, including the late
Les Paul, Bon Jovi, Willie Nelson, Bret
Michaels, Sting, Toby Keith, Justin Bieber,
Green Day, Sheryl Crow, Jeff Beck, Miley
Cyrus, Ted Nugent, Tim McGraw and John
Mayer.

General admission tickets are $75
and patron-level tickets are $125. Casual
attire is suggested. Patron tickets include
preferred seating. Both tickets include the
live and silent auctions, gourmet strolling

Offers Tools

Federation's Alliance for Jewish Education
will provide a professional conference for
educators, mental health practitioners and
parents of students with diverse learning
and behavioral challenges at the Anita
Naftaly Family Circle Conference at 7 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 17, at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek in Southfield.
Dr. Michele Borba topic will be
"Extreme Makeover Youth Edition: Tools
for Constructing Good Behavior, Strong
Character, and Resilience in Children and

Teens."
She is an educator, author, parenting
expert and child and adolescent expert.
She has worked in regular education as
well as work with children with learning,
physical, behavioral and emotional dis-
abilities.
Advanced registration is $20; cost is
$25 at the door. Refreshments will be
served.
CEU credits are available for social
workers through Jewish Family Service of
Metropolitan Detroit (#1130). For more

Armed Forces Shabbat

During the Shabbat service at 9 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 16, Congregation Shaarey
Zedek in Southfield will honor congre-
gants (male and female) who are veter-
ans of the armed forces.
All Shaarey Zedek veterans are welcome
to be involved in this service. A listing of
our veterans, living and deceased, with
details about their service will be printed
in a special program for the service.

Amy Schlussel

of admission.

illel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit has
hired Amy Schlussel as its
new director of admission. She comes
to the ISACS accredited, independent
early-childhood
through eighth-
grade community
Jewish day school
school after prac-
ticing law at Carson
Fischer PLC in
Bloomfield Hills.
Schlussel is no
stranger to the
Farmington Hills
school that two of her children attend
or to the Jewish community.
Schlussel has been a member of
the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit's board of governors, its edu-
cation division and the board of Yad
Ezra in Berkley; a past president of
Federation's Young Adult Division; and
a member of the Penny B. Blumenstein
Leadership Institute. She was awarded
the Sylvia Simon Greenberg Young
Leadership Award from Federation for
all of these efforts.
