etroiter Stanley Frankel was
a notable guest at a festive
ceremony marking the start of
renovations for the new TALI Ra'anana
School. The event took place on Sept. 20
at the former Ra'anana College site.
The new facility will house 500
elementary school students now study-
ing in the TALI track at the Meged
School. There also are four TALI schools
in Ra'anana and a TALI track in the
HaSharon Middle School.
Partners in the project include
Frankel, who is president of the
American Israel Education Fund, which
provides support to TALI education and
for which he is a longtime ambassador,
and the city of Ra'anana.
"Our many years of effort are finally
paying off," said Rachel Oren, chair of
the TALI Ra'anana Parents Association.
"In our new school, TALI will continue
to flourish and grow."
The curriculum will be based on
standards set by the Israel Ministry
of Education, the Ra'anana Education
Department, the TALI Education
Fund and the TALI Ra'anana Parents
Association. Renovations are expected
to be completed in about one year.
A contract formalizing the commit-
ment of the Ra'anana Municipality
to build a TALI elementary school in
the building that formerly housed the
Ra'anana College was signed by the city
on Sept. 2.
The American Israel Education Fund
was represented by Noam Raz, a part-
ner with the Michigan-based law firm
of Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer & Weiss, and man-
aging director of its Israel office.
The TALI ("Enriched Jewish
Studies") network of schools provides
a pluralistic Jewish studies program to
tens of thousands of schoolchildren in
184 state-run schools and kindergar-
tens throughout Israel.
The Frankel family has a long history
of supporting TALI education. It estab-
lished the first TALI school in Israel: the
Frankel School in the French Hill neigh-
borhood of Jerusalem. Ei
