t was on Rosh Hashanah that P.A.

of the Palestinian Authority, Israel's
so-called peace partner, that the nar-

Think about
that against the
backdrop of
Simchat Torah,
the Rejoicing
of the Torah,
the celebration
marking the close of the annual cycle
of public Torah readings and the begin-
ning of a new cycle. The joyous holiday,
which begins at sundown next
Wednesday, Sept. 29,
falls on the second
day of Shemini
Atzeret ("Eighth Day
of Assembly"),
which immediately
follows Sukkot.

West Bank, which ironically is also part
of Eretz Yisrael, the biblical Land of
Israel, utter blasphemy toward Jewish
prayer at the most revered site within
Judaism. The same program tarred
Jewish history as "false reports the
Israel-based Palestinian Media Watch

When I read that the narrator says
that Israelis must know "for certain"
that Palestinian roots "are deeper than
their false history," I wonder whom
he's referring to. Until Yasser Arafat's
Palestine Liberation Organization
hijacked the term "Palestinian" follow-
ing the PLO's 1964 founding, Jews were
considered the real Palestinians, hav-
ing begun to move back in small, but
steady numbers since the 19th century.
As we dance, sing and march while
rejoicing with the Torah next
week, remember the P.A. TV
message delivered to Arab
Palestinians in the West
Bank (once Judea and
Samaria) by Israel's
on-again, off-again
partner in search of
lasting peace.

"What's the point of
a two-state solution
that could easily make
Palestine a radical nation
tied to Iran and Syria,
while leaving the Gaza
Strip in Hamas' hands,
which means, in effect, a
three-state solution? Short
of a United States-led

force — an unlikely
possibility — there is no
way Gaza can be included
in a peace agreement
with Israel. Talking about
a two-state solution while
the Palestinian Authority
does not even control
Gaza is unconnected to
reality."
