Youth Weight Reduction Medical Weight Loss Clinics through- out Michigan are offering its medi- cally supervised "Pro-Teen Plan" at no cost to youths aged 10-17 as part of its continuing efforts to help fight childhood obesity. This program is available for eight weeks to the first 25 youths who qualify at each of MWLC's 34 locations throughout Michigan and across northern Ohio — a total of 850 youths who can benefit from this offer. Qualifications will be based on an age-appropriate minimum body mass index (BMI) as determined by MWLC guidelines. Keren Alpert will lead the discussion Feb. 21 of Amos Oz's The Panther in the Basement, on which the movie, The Little Traitor, was based. On April 11, Eileen Polk will discuss The Invisible Wall: A Love Story that Broke Barriers by Harry Bernstein. The series closes May 16 with Marilyn Schelberg's discussion of Standing By: The Making of an American Military Family in a Time of War by Alison Buckholtz. Cost of the series is $30.
